The next one is probably going to have to be the size of the Oxford English Dictionary to tie up all the loose ends. I'm hoping for some butt-kicking on Neville's part - there wasn't nearly enough of him in this book.

yeah, that's true about Neville. we only heard from him, what, once? when he was picking his N.E.W.T.S?
what I love about books, though, is that they can be as long as you want them to. movies can only be so long before people get antsy. but with a book like Harry Potter, JKR could make it over 1,500 pages and everyone would still read it. (I don't know how long the Oxford English Dictionary is)

Well, you can't pick it up with one hand - imagine a computer stack and you'd be part-way there.
I would imagine that JK is writing with an eye to the films, though - although exposition tends to fall by the wayside in the film medium, which is fair enough - conversations can be boring on the screen unless something's happening as well.

that's true. how is she going to write the seventh one if she has to think about length, though? so much still needs to happen. I actually hope it's really long. then I get to say, "yeah? well, I read a book that was x number of pages!" heh

It made me incredebly sad when Dumbledore died, but I kinda expected it. I agree with the theory that RAB may be Sirius' brother, but I hope it isn't--just for the sake of being a suprise! I don't think Hogwarts will stay open now that Dumbledore is gone. He was the only reason that it stayed open as long as it did. It worries me that Harry has to find the remaining horcruxes w/o Dumbledore. I don't think that he was given enough information to do it without some kind of help. But my prediction is that Harry will either find a horcrux or a clue to where one is hidden at Godric's Hollow. Draco is not my favorite character, but I do feel sorry for him. I think he would have let Dumbledore put him and his family in hiding if the Death Eaters had not arrived. I don't trust Snape, though. I never was willing to believe that he was on Dumbledore's side because of how horrible he always was to Harry & Sirius.
